The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star told Twitter followers this week that 'Only One' is her favourite Kanye song because of its importance to their family.
"People always ask me what my favourite Kanye song is and it's 'Only One'. Kanye feels like his mum sang through him to our daughter," wrote Kim.
Kim added to followers: "I cry every time I hear this song."
Kanye released the track featuring Sir Paul McCartney on keyboard at the turn of the New Year. It's sung from the perspective of Kanye's late mother Donda West.
Donda passed away in 2007.
According to Rolling Stone, this is the first collaboration between Kanye and Sir Paul to be made public. They've been working together on music since last year.
The magazine quotes a statement which read: "Kanye sat there with his family, holding his daughter North on his lap, and listened to his vocals, singing, 'Hello, my only one..." and in that moment, not only could he not recall having sung those words, but he realised that perhaps the words had never really come from him.
"The process of artistic creation is one that does not involve thinking, but often channeling. And he understood in that moment that his late mother, Dr. Donda West, who was also his mentor, confidante, and best friend, had spoken through him that day."
'Only One' is available via Kanye's website and iTunes.
Donda West was never able to meet her grandchild, North, who was born in June 2013. Kim and Kanye married in May 2014.
