The 'Anaconda' rapper told the new issue of Rolling Stone that she fell pregnant at high school while dating an older man and faced the difficult decision to choosing to end the pregnancy.
"I thought I was going to die," she said.
"I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I'd ever gone through."
Nicki, 32, told the magazine that although she'd been "haunted" by that decision ever since, it was the right choice at the time.
"It'd be contradictory if I said I wasn't pro-choice," she added. "I wasn't ready. I didn't have anything to offer a child."
Nicki references the abortion in song 'All Things Go', taken from her latest album The Pinkprint, with a line that says: "My child… would have been sixteen, any minute."
