The actor – who played Screech in the hit US sitcom – appeared in a Wisconsin, US court on Monday (29 December) in relation to the alleged incident that is said to have happened on Christmas Day.
The man was not seriously injured.
According to BBC News, Dustin has been charged with reckless endangerment, possession of a switchblade and carrying a concealed weapon.
He was released from prison on Monday on $10,000 (£6,400) bail, after spending the weekend in custody.
Dustin, 37, has said the incident occurred while he tried to defend his fiancée Amanda Schutz, 27.
A lawyer for the actor told People: "[Dustin] gets that when something like this happens, the police get involved and the court figures it out...
"He knows there is a process in this country and in the end he will be exonerated."
