Ahead of her Strictly Come Dancing debut, Caroline announced she had left her job of three years, hosting The Xtra Factor. However, the star has since suggested it wasn't her decision to leave, telling Alan Carr on his Chatty Man show, "the job I was doing was no longer mine".

Luckily for her, Caroline revealed that the opportunity to compete on Strictly came around the same time. But, while dancing on the show, the 35-year-old had another knock back, recently splitting with her boyfriend of 18 months, Jack Street.

On Saturday night, Caroline was crowned the winner of Strictly, and following her victory she told the Daily Mirror: "It's amazing to end it on a high like this. It's been an interesting year, it's been very testing in a lot of ways."

Despite presenting for her day job, Caroline admitted she isn't very good at dealing with her emotions, but dancing has helped her to address her feelings and recent heartbreak.

"What Pasha has taught me is that you can express [your emotions] by dancing," she explained. "It's been a real outlet. You don't feel bad when you're dancing."

Throughout the competition, Caroline has been credited by the judges for her very emotive performances and her show dance on Saturday night was no exception.

Putting everything she had into her stunning performance, Caroline said: "I think it might have been a whole year's worth of emotions put into a minute and a half."

Not only has she learnt how to cope with her emotions better, Caroline has revealed she has also grown in confidence thanks to her dance partner.

She added: "I feel a lot more confident. Pasha's changed me more than Strictly. I'm such a worrier about everything and he's the opposite.

"He rationalises a lot of things that I think and worry about. He levels out my thoughts for me.

"I have no regrets about doing [the show]. This is the biggest achievement of my life."
