The former Friends star is happily engaged to fellow actor Justin Theroux and is often the subject of pregnancy rumours.
And that's not fair, she says.
Jen tells the new issue of Allure magazine: "I don't like [the pressure] that people put on me, on women – that you've failed yourself as a female because you haven't procreated. I don't think it's fair.
"You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn't mean you aren't mothering – dogs, friends, friends' children."
Jen is godmother to best friend Courteney Cox's daughter Coco, and is well known for being a devoted animal lover, with dogs of her own.
She tells the magazine she doesn't like reading unfair suggestions she hasn't got children because she was more focused on her work. In fact, she says she gets "a little tight in the throat" when she hears accusations that she's put her career before motherhood.
Jen appears in the January 2015 issue of Allure magazine, which is available from 23 December.
This isn't the first time Jen, 45, has spoken out about the pressure to start a family.
She told People earlier this year it was "unnecessary" to speculate about people's private lives, pointing out: "Who knows what the reason is, why people aren't having kids.
"There's a lot of reasons that could be, and maybe it's something that no one wants to discuss. It's everyone's personal prerogative, that's all."
Jen and Justin, 43, have often said they ignore rumours about their life together because they know they're happy.
They became engaged back in August 2012, when Justin popped the question on his birthday. Since then, they've been subjected to numerous rumours about when and where they'll tie the knot, despite both Jen and Justin saying they are in no rush to marry.
