Shortly after being sent home from X Factor, Jake soon returned to our TV screens as a late arrival - along with former politician Edwina Currie - on the latest series of I'm A Celeb.
But, while he may have won over most of us, one person who didn't seem too impressed with his time Down Under was X Factor judge, Simon.
While The X Factor's final three were speaking of their hopes to take home the show's title this weekend, Simon couldn't resist making a dig at former contestant Jake.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Saturday night's final, Fleur East, Ben Haenow and Andrea Faustini weren't shy to admit they wanted to win.
Prompting the music mogul to then say: "I think with any competition, if you don't want to win, that tells me you haven't got that killer instinct to do well in the real world.
"If you're happy to come fourth or tenth and end up in the jungle..."
Met with a 'miaow' by fellow judge Louis Walsh, justifying his comment, Simon continued: "We want people on this show who want to be recording artists in the real world. That's just the way it is.
"He's a nice guy, but he could of gone into the jungle first and then have come on the show."
Simon's comments come after Jake headed out to Australia to appear on I'm A Celeb shortly after his X Factor exit in week three of the live shows.
Joining celebs such as Melanie Sykes, Jimmy Bullard and Kendra Wilkinson, Jake was quite the hit in camp and finished as runner up to this year's winner Carl 'Foggy' Fogarty.
Following his return from Oz, Jake admitted he was nervous about doing I'm A Celeb as he was worried nobody would know who he was.
He said: "I was worried everyone would think I was someone from the crew bringing them water or something because they wouldn't know [me]!"
