Lucy, who has experienced a privileged upbringing, took to Twitter today (9 December) and told her followers: "I quite like the homeless look."
After making the statement to her 812,000 followers, Lucy - whose father is a multimillionaire - was then slammed for "trivialising" the plight of people who genuinely have nowhere to live.
One told Lucy: "My brother really is homeless, don't trivialise this issue. Seriously, I just lost all respect for you. Wow." Another follower said: "Being homeless isn't a 'look'."
After being branded an "idiot" by another fan, one shot back: "Well, let's hope you are never really homeless then! #stupid."
Lucy later clarified her remark, tweeting a link to a fashion newspaper article about a Vivienne Westwood collection described by its writer as "homeless chic" in January.
She told followers: "'Homeless Chic" is a term used by fashion magazines... I am not making fun of homeless people. Calm down."
Lucy has had a life many people would be envious of. Growing up, she was educated at St Catherine's independent school in Surrey and now works as a jewellery designer. She found fame in series four of Made In Chelsea.
The reality star's father is an entrepreneur who reportedly sold a pub company in 2011 for £70 million. He also owns The Phene, a pub in Chelsea which is a known celebrity hangout.
Lucy, meanwhile, is often jetting off on expensive foreign holidays with her friends and MIC co-stars - including a recent trip to Dubai, where she stayed at the expensive Four Seasons hotel.
