Despite describing her relationship as 'rock solid', the 17 year old became the latest victim of the reality relationship curse when the pressures of the talent show got too much for the couple.
The singer announced on Twitter that the pair were taking a break at the end of last month. While reports claimed she was dumped as a result of her closeness to fellow contestant, Only The Young's Charlie George, Lauren was keen to set the record straight.
Speaking for the first time about the split, she tells us, 'We are obviously both gutted but we stick by what we decided. It was a mutual decision and we've done what we think is best for us. I'm still close to Charlie, though. Nothing's changed. We are still just best friends.'
Lauren explains, 'To be honest, we expected the pressure of the show. It was more a decision for the future than for now. We want to be together now but we know at the moment it's just not the best scenario. I hope that we'll be able to rethink it one day and I have 100 per cent faith that we will.'
