Earlier today, the young hopeful took to Twitter to address her break-up, telling her followers she and her boyfriend just "needed some time" apart.
While fans speculated why the couple may have split, Lauren made sure not to reveal why her relationship ended.
Instead, she simply tweeted: "Me and Liam have been through a lot guys, I still love him but we just need some time xxx."
Since being on the show, Lauren has publicly spoken about her romance with Liam, and her boyfriend even featured on The X Factor with her. While she was rehearsing, Lauren brought Liam along too, so he could meet her mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
On meeting him, Cheryl gave the 19-year-old a hug, telling him she had heard so much about him.
Only a couple of weeks ago, Liam was at the X Factor studios again supporting the hopeful.
Alongside a photo of himself cuddling up with Lauren backstage, Liam tweeted: "This girl. Smashing it."
Their split comes after Lauren has been romantically linked to both One Direction's Niall Horan and Only The Young's Charlie George - something which she has strongly denied.
After striking up a close friendship while living in the X Factor house, Lauren and Charlie were forced to dismiss there was a romance between them.
Following the rumours, Lauren's pal and fellow X Factor star Lola Saunders told Reveal the 17-year-old had been left hurt over the claims.
At the time, Lola said: "They are very close but just as friends. I think Lauren was hurt about [the rumours] coming out, but she sort of knew it was coming anyway because they are so close.
"They're like attached to each other but it's just because they're really good friends."
As well as Charlie, Lauren was linked to 1D singer Niall after reports emerged they had struck up a secret friendship - again, she denied this to be true.
Meanwhile, Lauren is preparing for her performance this weekend for the X Factor semi-final.
Narrowly avoiding being sent home on Sunday, Lauren found herself in the bottom two with Louis Walsh's act Stereo Kicks.
After Simon took the judges' vote to deadlock, it was revealed Stereo Kicks had received the fewest public votes and they were then sent home from the competition.
Their departure means Louis is out of the title race for this year's series as he has no acts left going into the semi-final.
And the Irish music mogul is not happy!
Blaming his boss for the boyband's exit, Louis has since said he will "never let Simon forget" sending Stereo Kicks home.
Joining Lauren in the semi-finals are Fleur East, Ben Haenow and Andrea Faustini.
The X Factor continues this Saturday 6 December at 8pm on ITV.
