Heartthrob Danny, who is dating former Hollyoaks actress Carley Stenson, revealed he actually decided to leave his role from October last year.

He told fans: "After nearly 4 amazing years I am sad yet excited to say that I will be leaving @Hollyoaks. #Dodger will bow out at the end of January.

"My decision to leave @Hollyoaks was made back in October 2013 & we've been secretly building towards it ever since. We hope you enjoy!"

Last week it was revealed that Danny would be bowing out of the soap early next year.

Danny's exit will involve his character Dodger having to choose between the three ladies in his life in a "huge storyline" this Christmas.

A source told Reveal: "Dodger is forced to choose between the good, the bad and the downright wrong in his complicated love square with Maxine, Theresa and Sienna but who will he choose and will it be a happy ending?"
