One Direction have made history in the US as the first group to debut with four Number One albums.

Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Harry Styles have knocked Taylor Swift off the charts with their new studio album Four.

The boys became the first group to score four consecutive chart-topping albums on the US Billboard 200 album chart.

It follows 1D's three previous albums, 2011's Up All Night, 2012's Take Me Home and 2013's Midnight Memories.

That's pretty impressive considering the boys were put together just four years ago!

Louis, Niall, Zayn, Liam and Harry auditioned as solo singers for the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010. They failed to progress through to the Judges' Houses stage of the competition, but were soon put together to form a new five-piece boy band.

And then One Direction were born!

Making it through to the live shows, the group finished in third place and were soon propelled to international success, making them one of the biggest bands in the world.
