John, who plays villain 'Nasty' Nick Cotton in the BBC One soap, is swapping the screen for the stage this Christmas.
The 62-year-old actor has teamed up with female rock band JOANovARC to cover 'Real Wild Child (Wild One)' by Iggy Pop.
John is hoping the single will chart well - and in particular, he's hoping to beat the winner of the popular ITV talent show.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: "We're going all out to beat the X Factor winner because we've got a good song."
Simon Cowell's X Factor winner always faces competition from a few contenders each year, but we bet they didn't think a soap star would be in the running!
Also battling it out for the Christmas top spot is Band Aid 30, Samuel L Jackson's charity single and Tom Odell's cover of 'Real Love' for the John Lewis Christmas advert.
In recent years, Justice Collective, the Military Wives and Rage Against the Machine have all beat Simon Cowell's X Factor hopefuls to the top spot.
