The 'Dark Horse' singer will follow in the footsteps of stars including Beyonce, Madonna, Black Eyed Peas and Bruno Mars when she performs for more than 100 million football fans on 1 February.
According to music insiders at Billboard, the starlet was chosen from a shortlist that included her close friend Rihanna and Coldplay.
The sources suggested Katy's worldwide popularity and selection of family-friendly songs had helped cinch the massive deal.
It's a huge platform for a musician. Last year, Bruno Mars played to a record-breaking audience of 111.5 million viewers. Performers can also expect a surge in publicity and music sales.
Katy, who is currently in Australia, excitedly confirmed the news via Twitter, saying: "Yeppers! And I've already started testing out ideas!"
We're expecting a completely OTT (in a good way!) performance, eye-catching costumes, a-mazing hair and make-up and lots of fun!
We can't wait!
