Earlier this week, Cheryl was quoted as saying she would take a break from The X Factor to start a family.
And while Simon Cowell didn't seem too pleased with her latest statement, Alexandra has said "it would be a great thing for Cheryl to do".
Speaking to the Mail Online, the former X Factor winner defended Cheryl's plans, stating she "wouldn't blame" the Girls Aloud star for taking some time off.
"I think that would be a great thing to do," she said. "As a first time mother I guess it's the right thing."
She added: "For a woman, you want to take some time off to be with your child and to breastfeed."
Alexandra's comments come after Simon reportedly dismissed Cheryl's baby plans to The Sun.
After Cheryl admitted to the newspaper it would be difficult to juggle having a baby with The X Factor, the music mogul hit back in jest: "Well, I had one."
Earlier this year, Simon welcomed his first child - son Eric - with girlfriend Lauren Silverman.
Throughout Lauren's pregnancy Simon was busy working on the last showing of The X Factor USA, winning the series with his duo act Alex and Sierra.
And, since Eric's arrival, the 55-year-old has reclaimed his seat as head judge on the British version of the show.
Despite losing the first of his four acts, Jay James, from the competition last weekend, Simon still has more of his category left in the competition than his fellow judges.
While Cheryl and Mel B have just one of their finalists left, Louis Walsh has two of his groups - Only The Young and Stereo Kicks.
This weekend the remaining seven finalists will sing again, taking on songs from music superstars Whitney Houston and Elton John.
