It was confirmed earlier today (19 November) that Gemma had walked out of the jungle after she was seen by viewers struggling with the experience.
However, despite her early exit, it has now been claimed the TOWIE star will still be given her hefty appearance fee due to a '72-hour clause' in her contract.
According to reports, all contestants are required to last at least 72 hours in the Australian jungle otherwise their payment for taking part is forfeited.
An I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! spokesman has declined to comment on the claim.
Gemma's rep, meanwhile, blasted on Twitter: "The comments about @missgemcollins' jungle pay are laughable. Get your facts straight people.
"This is absolute RUBBISH."
Fans were left stunned this morning when ITV bosses confirmed that Gemma had quit the reality show. Even Gemma's TOWIE co-stars are surprised, while former contestant Nicola McLean has warned that she will live to regret her decision.
Reveal has contacted Gemma's rep for a comment, while ITV simply said in a statement: "We're sorry to see Gemma go but respect her decision and wish her well."
Gemma's departure is no doubt a fly in the ointment for show bosses, as they had paid to fly TOWIE co-star Bobby Norris first class to Australia to talk about her on spin-off show I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here Now!.
It is thought Bobby will still appear on the ITV2 show tonight, while Gemma's exit will air in the main show at 9pm on ITV1.
