Kendall Jenner has hit back at critics, insisting it was not her Kardashian-Jenner name that launched her modelling career.

Kendall, 19, has walked catwalks for fashion giants including Chanel and Givenchy, but she believes her success is all down to hard work - not who she is related to.

Speaking in a new interview, the US star admitted that she has dropped her surname on her modelling portfolio and said she has asked sister Kim not to attend her shows.

Kendall told ABC's Nightline: "In reality I worked pretty hard for this, running around doing tests. It wasn't like I just got it magically and it has just happened.

"I would always be looking at these supermodels, they were just so amazing, they were like superheroes. I want to be some little girl's superhero."

When asked about how she had "banned" Kim from her catwalk shows, Kendall went on to explain: "Banned is a strong is more of a mutual understanding.

"I think if my sister's sitting in the front row - and my sister is who she is - it sounds weird, but it would have almost taken the attention away from what I'm trying to do on my own."

Kendall's rise to fame in the world of fashion has been documented over numerous series' of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, starting with a shoot for Forever 21 back in 2009.

Since then, her career has gone from strength-to-strength and this year she walked the runway at both Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week.

On Saturday, Kendall was celebrating after being announced as the new face of Estee Lauder. As a result, she will be featuring in numerous print, digital and TV campaigns for the cosmetic giant.

Whether the name helped or not, Kendall is definitely riding high when it comes to her own career!
