Strictly Come Dancing star Mark Wright has insisted he and his fellow celebs aren't rivals on the BBC dancing show.

Despite going head-to-head with each other to win the Strictly Mirrorball trophy, Mark has claimed he and his pals on the show don't see it as a competition.

Mark insists he and his Strictly pals don't see each other as rivals on the show!

"I don't have rivals," Mark told Reveal at the Bootea Shake launch in London this week. "Nobody is competing against anyone."

He added: "We are all so close. There's encouragement from everyone before you go on, you want everyone to do well."

So far six celebrities have left Strictly Come Dancing and as the final draws nearer, instead of eyeing up his competition, Mark is focusing on himself and improving his footwork.

"The only person I'm competing with is myself. I've been working so hard and I put so much pressure on myself to get that dance right," he said.

So much so, that at times Mark has been seen teary-eyed and unable to speak on the show.

Previously Mark has said he isn't sure why he gets so emotional but putting it down to his nerves, the former TOWIE star said competing on Strictly is the "scariest thing" he has ever done.

He added: "The nerves, the tension, the pressure you put on yourself… you're going out in front of 10million people to perform. I've never done that before, it's scary.

"You can mess up at any point and the minute I see a family member, it nearly results in tears! I have to try and not look at them before I dance anymore!"

But, luckily for Mark, his dance partner Karen has been on hand to help when things get a little too overwhelming...

"Karen has been the best dance partner," Mark explained. "She always knows what to say. No one can explain what the celebs go through on a Saturday night on the show.

"I'm a softie and I wear my heart on my sleeve. I don't think [Karen] wants me to cry, but she gets it. She'd rather me cry and care so much about what I'm doing, that not cry and not care."

Supported by Karen, Mark and his fancy footwork has improved considerably over the weeks and lately he has been finding himself sitting within the top three of the leaderboard.

Performing the waltz last weekend, Mark impressed the judging panel with Craig Revel Horwood telling the star he "really enjoyed" his perfomance and Bruno Tonioli suggesting Mark was "a keeper" on the show.

Sailing through to next week, Mark joins the remaining eight couples and will perform live from Blackpool Tower.
