TOWIE star Gemma Collins has confirmed she will miss the Christmas special but vows she hasn't left Essex for good.

The reality favourite has said she won't be involved in this year's TOWIE festive edition due to her commitments on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

But she insists she will be back.

Gemma Collins is among the stars in this year's I'm A Celebrity.

Speaking ahead of entering the Aussie jungle, Gemma said: "I absolutely love TOWIE. I am missing the Christmas special but I will be back. I am not leaving TOWIE and when everyone finds out, I know they will be pleased for me.

"We are all very supportive of each other."

Gemma is the third TOWIE star to swap Essex for the jungle. Mark Wright and Joey Essex have both appeared in previous series of I'm A Celebrity and done very well!

Gemma will skip the TOWIE Christmas special but says she hasn't left the show for good.

Fashion designer Gemma said that she hopes I'm A Celebrity will allow people to see a different side to the character we've grown to know on TOWIE.

"This is a chance for me to be me. I am not 100 per cent confident and I think sometimes people think of me as a crazy, shouty woman!"

She won't, however, be leaving her feisty side completely behind...

"I will be no shrinking violet," she said. "If something or someone is not right, I will bring it up."

Gemma, seen here outside her second Essex store, says she'll miss her job while in the jungle.

Gemma, 34, said that although she'll miss her friends, family and home comforts, she is looking forward to taking a break from her hectic everyday life.

"It's going to be full on entertainment watching me! But actually it is going to be nice to have a break from everything. When I hit my 30s, my life changed. It's been crazy and it's been a rat race and so it will be a chance to learn things about myself.

"I am going to miss my friends and family so much. I know this sounds mad but I am going to miss my shop too. I love going to my shop and meeting people. It's nice to help so many women who come in depressed and don't feel nice. I love the fact that TV enables me to help other women. Saturday is my favourite day of the week. It's very therapeutic being in the shop."

I'm A Celebrity begins Sunday 16 November at 9pm on ITV
