TOWIE star Ricky Rayment has said he appreciated Carol Wright visiting him on last night's episode to thank him for his letter.

Fans saw yesterday that Ricky had penned a letter to Carol following his split from her daughter Jessica. In the note, Ricky spoke about how he never wanted to hurt Jessica and apologised if the Wright family were upset.

Ricky wrote a letter to Jessica's family following their split.

Jessica dumped Ricky last month after she discovered he'd sent flirtatious tweets to another woman, although he said nothing further had happened.

In his handwritten letter, Ricky thanked Carol and the Wright family for everything they'd done for him and wished them the best for the future. "I hope one day we might be friends," he concluded.

Jessica's expression was hard to read as she listened.

Carol later visited Ricky to thank him for the letter.

She told Ricky she'd become "emotional" reading the letter and insisted that he should never think the Wright family hadn't accepted him.

Ricky told the official TOWIE website: "I think it was a nice touch. I didn't know if she'd like the letter or throw it away or burn it. It's nice she came over to sort of clear the air and I think we can all move on now.

"At the end of the day, Carol is Jess' mum and no matter what I say she will agree with Jess, but it's nice she came round and we can crack on with our lives."

Carol later visited Ricky at home to thank him for his letter.

Meanwhile, Jessica has said she never wanted to see Ricky or his mum Jan Rayment upset.

"I hate seeing Jan upset. She's a really emotional lady," said Jess. "She's a nice person. She's always looked after me so much. It upsets me and I don't want her to be upset, just like I never wanted her son to be upset.

"I had his back throughout everything and even when he was wrong to me I still hated seeing him upset."

TOWIE continues Wednesday night on ITVBe.
