Sharon Osbourne returned to X Factor for its tenth series last year, before departing for good… which it seems she's rather happy about!

The outspoken rock matriarch didn't shy away about voicing her opinion on this year's show when approached by our colleagues at Cosmopolitan magazine over the weekend.

Chatting up a storm on the MTV EMA red carpet in Glasgow, the fiery TV personality suggested X Factor has had its day and the judges should call it quits.

Sharon arrived at the EMAs with husband Ozzy.

Mrs O told Cosmo: "I think it's time they all went home. I think it would have been lovely to end it on top last year when the numbers were great.

"Now, they're going down and it's like a shame to keep something going when it's going down hill. You should always stop when you're on top."

Hmm… we wonder what Simon Cowell will say about that?!

Sharon made a triumphant return to X Factor for its tenth series last year.

Simon made his super grand return to the ITV show for its 11th series, bringing with him ex-judge Cheryl Fernandez-Fersini (formely Cole).

It had all the makings of TV gold… Chezza was previously lured from the UK X Factor to the US, only to be sacked a few days into the gig. Simon also left in a blaze of glory to launch US X Factor, which ended after just three series.

But the new series of X Factor has been losing out to Strictly in the ratings battle this year.

Simon and Cheryl returned to the show this year alongside Mel B and Louis Walsh.

Meanwhile, it's looking bright for Sharon's TV future after she recently confirmed her family reality show The Osbournes will return for a new run of episodes.

Sharon told Loose Women: "Our lives have changed so much, it's a kind of catch up, it's like what they're doing now. As I say it's not forever. No more than eight episodes."

The show - airing in 2015 - will feature Sharon, husband Ozzy and their children Kelly and Jack. (Third child Aimee has always shied away from the limelight.)

"Ozzy has decided he wants to do another few episodes, not a whole season about eight episodes of The Osbournes," said Sharon. "He said for the whole three years that we did it he was drunk the whole time, so he said he would like to do one when he's completely sober as he is now, so we're like yes!"
