Paul Akister was dramatically eliminated from The X Factor last night - but will he be brought back to the show?

Paul found himself in the bottom two with Jay James and, after the judges failed to reach a unanimous decision over who to send home, the vote went to 'deadlock'.

Visibly upset, both Paul and his mentor Mel B were unable to speak to host Dermot O'Leary after it was announced he had received the least support from the public.

However, fans have now been left wondering whether Paul will be given a second chance in the competition.

Following his shock elimination, X Factor executive producer Mark Sidaway tweeted: "@PaulAkister shouldn't have gone tonight. I'm gonna try and make something happen."

Previously, he had also told followers: "And that, is a shocker #xfactor."

Paul had performed 'Don't Stop Me Now' on Saturday night's Michael Jackson versus Queen show and impressed all four judges with his vocals. However, the public obviously weren't so bowled over.

After being sent home, the singer - who made it to Boot Camp last year - took to Twitter to thank fans for their support.

"So just want to say thanks for all the support from all you guys.." he tweeted. "I've been knocked back before and become stronger so determined right now x."

Meanwhile, Jay - who is in Simon Cowell's Overs category - has spoken about being in the sing-off with Paul on his Facebook page.
In a lengthy post, he said: "A massive thank you to absolutely every single wonderful human that voted and supported me this weekend! Hands down you're the reason I'm still in this competition.

"Absolutely devastated to lose Paul, such a rare talent & literally one of the best vocalists I've ever heard. I'm lucky & blessed to fight another day, after this that's exactly what I'm gonna do. ‪#‎timetostartpunching‬.
