Recognising that music can be filled with meaning, the EMAs will now have a new gong up for grabs that awards tracks for their empowering lyrics and ability to encourage young people to be more confident.
The 'Best Song With A Message' award is sponsored by Someone Like Me - a global programme from Durex and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation - and the winner can only be voted for by posting a hashtag on Twitter, Instagram and Vine.
But, who are the first lucky superstars to be nominated for the title?
Fronting the list of nominees is Beyoncé with her song 'Pretty Hurts'. Queen Bey is known for her feminist-inspired tracks, so it's no surprise she has been given the nod by MTV.
Battling it out against Mrs Carter are Arcade Fire ('We Exist'), Hozier ('Take Me To Church'), Alicia Keys ('We Are Here') and Meghan Trainor with her recent chart-topping track 'All About That Bass'.
But, who will take home the award's first title?
We can't wait to find out!
This year MTV's EMAs turn 20 and the awards are heading to Glasgow on Sunday 9 November to celebrate.
And, making sure to party in style, MTV recently announced Nicki Minaj will be taking over the EMAs on the night.
Promising a night to remember, the 'Anaconda' singer will be turning host to present the star-studded evening.
As well as a performance from Nicki herself, Royal Blood, Calvin Harris, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande and Enrique Iglesias will all be taking to the stage too.
