Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills was the fifth celebrity to be sent home from Strictly Come Dancing.

During yesterday's results shows, Scott joined This Morning presenter Alison Hammond in the bottom two and was voted out of the competition after their dance off.

Following his Halloween-themed performance of the Foxtrot to The Addams Family theme tune, Scott and his professional partner Joanne Clifton failed to impress the judges.

Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli all voted to save Alison and her pro Aljaz Skorjanec, after they felt her Foxtrot routine to 'Wuthering Heights' had more "added flourishes" than Scott's had done.

Winning the majority of the panel's votes, Alison and Alijaz will join the remaining nine couples and dance again next week.

However, head judge Len Goodman did reveal that if he had given his vote he would have saved Scott and Joanne.

"They were both dancing the foxtrot so I went for the section which was the foxtrot," Len explained. "In that case, it would have been Scott that I would have saved."

After the show, Scott described his Strictly journey as the "best experience" over Twitter, before thanking Joanne for all her help during his time in the competition.

He tweeted: "Strictly has been the best experience and I've just had such an amazing time.

"I'm so pleased I took part and I hope people enjoyed watching me try really hard in being as good as I could be. I've met some great people and made lots of new friends. I will miss them all.

"And thanks to the BEST dance partner ever @joanneclifton for everything. You've been amazing :)."

Scott's exit comes after rugby star Thom Evans left Strictly in a shock result the week before.

Met by disbelief by the judges that he and Simon Webbe were in the bottom two, Thom was then voted out of the competition after Len - having the deciding vote - decided to save Simon.

Despite telling Thom he didn't deserve to be in the bottom two, Len eventually voted for Simon to stay as he believed the Blue singer had the "cleanest footwork" on the night.

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday (8 November) at 6.30pm and Sunday (9 November) at 7.20pm.
