X Factor's latest evictee Jake Quickenden has defended contestant Stevi Ritchie after he was branded the show's "joke act".

Jake, 26, was voted off the ITV talent show last night (26 October) after ending up in the bottom two with mixed group Only The Young.

Stevi is through to another week.

Speaking to Reveal this morning, Jake tells us: "Stevi deserves his place there. He's an entertainer and he cracks me up.

"He's such a nice guy, he's so funny and people enjoy watching him." Jake continues. "He's not going anywhere. He'll be in there for a few weeks yet."

Dad-of-one Stevi, who is mentored by Simon Cowell, made the live shows after Cheryl Fernandez-Versini picked him as a wildcard.

Throughout the three weeks of the live shows, Stevi has been described by some as a novelty act. The judges have praised Stevi as "great entertainer", with Simon saying he is "like a guilty pleasure".

Stevi, pictured here on the first live show, says he doesn't mind being called the "joke act".

However, after performing 'Footloose' by Kenny Loggins on Saturday night, Louis Walsh told Stevi that his performance was "corny" and declared it was "time to go home".

Speaking on Xtra Factor last night, Simon also said: "Do I think he'll win? No I don't, but I think he deserves a chance. Just to be clear, I do like Stevi, and the more I work with him, the more I like him."

And Stevi himself has said he doesn't mind being called a novelty act, telling host Sarah-Jane Crawford: "I don't mind being called the joke act. Hopefully, there's going to be a more serious side next week, fingers crossed."

X Factor continues next Saturday (1 November) with a Fright Night theme at 8pm on ITV.
