Lewis Hamilton needs to "put a ring on it" and propose to long-term girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, says former X Factor contestant Jahméne Douglas.

Having been in a six-year relationship, Nicole and Lewis are clearly meant to be, and Jahméne reckons it's time Lewis popped the question!

Lewis and Nicole have been dating on-and-off for six years.

"I would like Nicole and Lewis to get married," Jahméne told Reveal at last night's MOBO Awards. "It's been six years - put a ring on it Lewis!"

While he's keen for them to walk down the aisle, Jahméne praises Nicole and Lewis for not rushing into anything.

"They rate their friendship first," he continued. "You know each other's faults and habits, you love each other then hate each other... You can't do that while you're married!"

Jahméne, who was runner-up on The X Factor in 2012, was mentored by Nicole during the talent show and the pair remain close friends.

Jahméne and Nicole have remained firm friends since 2012's X Factor.

While speaking about former Pussycat Doll Nicole, who has just released her second solo album Big Fat Lie, Jahméne had nothing but praise for the songstress.

"She's always dancing, singing, modelling, she's crazy! I can't keep up," he said. "She's in France one minute and then China the next!"

Having been on the X Factor journey right through to the very end, Jahméne knows exactly what this year's contestants are going through.

Discussing the judging panel, Jahméne described Simon Cowell as "savage", but said Mel B "keeps it real".

Jahméne watched Nicole perform on stage at last night's MOBO Awards.

But if Jahméne was in the competition this year, there's one judge who he wouldn't be too keen on having as his mentor... "I wouldn't choose Louis Walsh," he declared. Oops!

And who is Jahméne backing?

"I'm supporting Jake Quickenden," he told us. "He's a great guy, he's my friend. I think nerves affect him a lot. He lost his brother when I was on the show and he just needs to hold down those emotions and channel them."
