Actress and Loose Women star Lynda Bellingham has passed away aged 66 following a battle with cancer.

Lynda only recently revealed that she was suffering from terminal colon and lung cancer and died in her husband Michael's arms yesterday (19 October).

The star's death comes just days after she made a final farewell appearance on Loose Women, which was planned to air this Wednesday.

Asked by Coleen Nolan how she'd best like to be remembered, Lynda said: "Just an honest person."

Confirming the sad news, Lynda's agent, Sue Latimer, said: "Lynda died peacefully in her husband's arms yesterday at a London hospital.

"Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff for their tremendous care and support. Actor, writer and presenter - to the end Lynda was a consummate professional."

Lynda became a panelist on Loose Women in 2009 and she was most famously known for her appearances in OXO commercials.

Tributes to the star have now begun pouring in. Loose Women co-panelist Coleen, who lost her sister Bernie to cancer last year, tweeted: "#LindaBellingham Sleep warm, sleep well my friend, give Bernie a hug from me."

This Morning's Phillips Schofield, meanwhile, simply said: "RIP Gorgeous Lynda Bellingham xx."

Speaking recently about her cancer battle, Lynda confirmed that she had stopped treatment to limit the suffering her family would experience. Lynda had, however, hoped to make one last Christmas with her loved ones.

Lynda leaves behind her husband and two sons, Michael and Robbie.
