Mark Wright avoided being sent home on Strictly Come Dancing last night after being saved by the judging panel.

After a unanimous vote by the judges, Mark and his professional partner Karen Haeur were saved from elimination and will dance next week with the remaining 11 couples.

The couple beat Bargain Hunt star Tim Wonnacott and pro-dancer Natalie Lowe after their Paso Doble failed to win over the judges.

Performing the Quickstep to 'Tiger Feet' on Saturday's night live show, Mark and Karen received great feedback from the panel so it came as a surprise that they found themselves in the bottom two.

With a score of 29, judge Bruno Tonioli said the pair "didn't deserve to be in the bottom two", while Craig Revel Horwood said he was "shocked" at the result.

But, luckily for Mark the panel wasn't ready to let him leave just yet and he will join his fellow Strictly stars to dance again next weekend.

Following the dance off the former TOWIE star took to Twitter to thank his followers for their support.

He tweeted: "Well that was a horrible, nerve wracking feeling. I feel for Tim as he's an amazing man and now a friend. I am happy to stay as I don't want this dream journey to end. Please remember to vote next week to keep me in. #strictly #iloveit Thank you to all for you're support. Love you x."

Meanwhile, Tim and Natalie found themselves being sent home after their performance to Tina Turner's 'Simply The Best' wasn't enough for them to be saved.

Reflecting back on his time on the show, Tim said: "It's a great treat to be on a programme like Strictly and for an old geezer like me to come along in his sixty fourth year... the last month with this delightful teacher has taken me to a very special place.

"I'm fitter, a better person than I was a month ago as a result of this experience and I cannot tell you what a wonderful thing this whole programme is."

Last week Mrs Brown's Boys star Jennifer Gibney was the second celebrity to leave the show.

Next week's show will air on Saturday 25 October at 6.30pm, with the results show on Sunday 26 October at 7.20pm on BBC One.
