According to reports in the US, the Duke of Cambridge is keen to make an official visit to the East Coast later this year, bringing the duchess with him if she is well enough to travel.
People magazine reports the palace declined to comment on the rumours, but sources said the visit would likely highlight the duke's charity interests.
Kate, 32, has been severely ill since becoming pregnant with her second child. The illness, named hyperemesis gravidarium, has already forced her to cancel multiple engagements including a visit to Malta which would have been her first solo overseas royal tour.
She also suffered from the severe sickness while pregnant with Prince George, now one.
According to The Mirror, the proposed trip to New York is in a very early planning stage and could be cancelled if Kate was not well enough to travel.
The newspaper also claims Prince George will remain in the UK.
William and Kate previously conducted a joint tour of North America in July 2011, a few months after their lavish wedding at Westminster Abbey in London.
