Strictly Come Dancing stars Pixie Lott and Frankie Bridge have defended their decision to take part in the show despite their dance experience.

Speaking to Alan Carr on his Chatty Man show, which will air tonight (3 October), popstar Pixie and Saturdays singer Frankie hit back at critics who have said the girls have an unfair advantage over their fellow celebs.

Alan asked: "Some people – miserable people – say 'it's not fair, because Pixie and Frankie have been in a girl group – they can dance'. Do you think there's a bit of that?"

Pixie responded: "A lot of people have been saying that, but they say that every year don't they?"

Mum-of one Frankie agreed, adding: "They do say that every year, and I don't know if you've seen any of our music videos, but we've not done a Waltz or a Cha-cha-cha. I think I thought I knew how to Cha-cha-cha, turns out I have no idea."

'What About Us' singer Frankie, who suffered her first Strictly injury during dance rehearsals this week, will be performing the Charleston to the Happy Days theme tune with professional dance partner Kevin Clifton this weekend.

Meanwhile, Pixie and her pro dancer Trent Whiddon will be performing the Waltz to 'Come Away With Me' by Norah Jones.

Alan Carr: Chatty Man airs tonight (Friday 3 October) at 10pm on Channel 4.
