Rita Ora agreed to join The Voice UK on the encouragement of current coach will.i.am.

The 'R.I.P.' singer was announced as Kylie Minogue's replacement on the BBC One talent show earlier this week and apparently we have will.i.am to thank for that.

He told the Daily Star he'd asked Rita to join the show while working with her in the studio and although she was initially hesitant, she later agreed.

Will said Rita was "on the fence" because she was worried about how she'd come across on live TV and how she'd handle rejecting hopefuls or providing negative feedback.

He explained: "You are really gambling because people could turn around and say, 'Man, you're an asshole, you're so rude.' It can really f**k up someone's life. But I think Rita is going to be awesome!"

Rita Ora confirmed as the new coach on The Voice UK for series four.

Rita will join will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson when the BBC One show returns to the air next January.

Emma Willis and Marvin Humes return as hosts.

Earlier this week, Rita gushed: "So excited to be part of - and for my team to win - The Voice this series! Let's have some fun will.i.am, Tom and Ricky! I'm really looking forward to the blind auditions – and spinning in my big red chair. EXCITED!!!!"
