Courteney became engaged to Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid in June and last night, she shared the rather romantic story of how his proposal came about.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actress said Johnny's first port of call had been to ask her daughter Coco, ten, if she'd let him marry her mother.
Coco is Courteney's daughter with ex-husband David Arquette.
Courteney explained: "Johnny said, 'I'd like to marry your mum' and gave her a little diamond ring and got down on one knee. She said, 'Great! I'm going to camp tomorrow so let's do it right now!'"
Coco's enthusiasm meant the date for the proposal was set - that evening! And as Courteney, Johnny and Coco had already been to Jen's house for dinner, that's where the proposal took place!
"We went to Jen's house for dinner because it was Coco's birthday and she's Coco's godmum. Johnny and Coco had made a plan to count down from three to one and then he would get down on one knee and say, 'Will you marry me?' and she'd say, 'Will you marry him?'"
But it seems in all the planning, Johnny hadn't factored in one thing - the attention span of a ten-year-old!
"Coco got a little bored, as she does, and while we were at the bar having a drink she said, 'THREE...' Johnny was like, 'No, not now Coco!'"
Undeterred, later during dinner, Courteney said the same thing happened again. "She kept jumping the gun," said Courteney. "But finally she waited until after dinner... just when she was about to fall asleep."
Aww, too cute!
