Clarence House announced yesterday that Kate and husband Prince William are expecting their second child together next year.
And it seems William's dad Charles couldn't be happier!
According to reports, he told onlookers at a public engagement yesterday that the baby news was "splendid."
"It's wonderful to be a grandfather again," he added. "I'm looking forward to it – but I hope it will be a girl this time!"
Kate and William are already parents to son Prince George, born last year.
It's also reported that when one royal fan congratulated Prince Charles he quipped in response: "What did I do?"
"It hasn't arrived yet but splendid, we're very excited!"
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's baby news was announced yesterday after Kate was forced to pull out of a planned engagement in Oxford because she's once again suffering from hypermesis gravidarium, a severe form of sickness.
She was hospitalised with the condition in the early stages of her pregnancy with George, but this time she's being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace.
Kate has also cancelled an engagement at tonight's Invictus Games Opening Ceremony in London, while her first solo overseas tour to Malta at the end of the month is also in doubt.
A statement issued by the palace this morning said: "The Duchess of Cambridge will not attend the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games this evening or the athletics event tomorrow.
"The Duchess's attendance on the forthcoming visit to Malta will be kept under review and a decision taken closer to the time."
