In April, Bruce announced he was standing down as co-host of the popular BBC One show after a decade.

The 86-year-old explained he wanted to spend more time with his wife and admitted that the 14-week Strictly schedule was gruelling.

The showbiz veteran will, however, continue to host the Children In Need and Christmas specials of the dancing competition.

After the BBC announced Bruce's Strictly exit, his co-host Tess paid tribute, telling fans that it has been an "absolute pleasure and privilege" to work alongside him for a decade.

Bruce had been co-hosting Strictly alongside Tess since 2004. After his departure was announced, the BBC confirmed Claudia, who was already co-presenter of the Sunday night results show, would be his replacement.

The move makes Claudia and Tess the first female presenting duo to front a primetime Saturday night show.
