David McIntosh has said he had an "exceptional" time in the Celebrity Big Brother house despite being the first celebrity evicted.

The former Marine fiancé of Kelly Brook left the CBB compound on Wednesday night (27 August) after receiving the fewest public votes in the first eviction of the series.

He had been up against Gary Busey, Claire King, James Jordan and Kellie Maloney.

But, remaining positive, the ex-Gladiators star has tweeted: "Had an exceptional time in the house, and many thanks to everyone who voted for me if any! lol was a fantastic experience. Loved it #cbb."

Coming out of the house, David had been high spirited ... but later confessed to Emma Willis that had been because he believed it would be a double eviction and he wouldn't be alone.

When told he was the only one being evicted he remained positive, saying he didn't mind.

One positive for David, now he's out of the house, is that he can be reunited with Kelly, who'd been supporting him from home.

She tweeted last night: "If David is voted out I'll be waiting to give him a kiss.. So many nice tweets and messages!! I've loved watching #CBB Good Luck to the remaining housemates."

CBB airs nightly on Channel 5.
