X Factor honcho Simon has given his frank views on the two men ahead of the show's launch this weekend, and it's fair to say he favours French businessman JB as a match for Cheryl.
In a new interview, Simon has described Cheryl and footballer Ashley's relationship as a brother and sisterly one and says Jean-Bernard is "charming".
Speaking to the Radio Times, Simon said: "I didn't know Ashley well but the few times I met them together I thought they were more like brother and sister. I didn't quite get that husband-wife thing.
"But this guy is confident and charming. She's changed. She's fun again."
Simon also admitted to the publication that he is still unsure of Cheryl's married name: "I can't remember her new surname to save my life," he said.
"I think she's married someone with a surname you can't pronounce so she will become Cheryl, like Madonna and Beyonce. It was the grand plan to become a one-name artist."
This weekend, Simon and Cheryl will make their return to The X Factor following a three-year hiatus. The pair originally left the ITV1 show for X Factor US, however their relationship turned seriously sour after Cheryl was sacked from the show.
Simon also touches upon this period in the interview and says that Cheryl had put on weight and lost confidence following her split from Ashley.
"She'd put on a bit of weight, but not loads," he said. "That wasn't the issue. The only way I can describe it is that it wasn't Cheryl sitting in that seat. She'd lost her confidence."
Simon and Cheryl will be joined on the panel by X Factor stalwart Louis Walsh and Spice Girl Mel B and there is definitely a lot of excitement surrounding the show's return.
Meanwhile, along with The X Factor, Cheryl has recently made her music comeback too. This weekend, former Girls Aloud star Cheryl took fans behind-the-scenes on her new music video.
