The actress stars as Anastasia Steele in the hugely anticipated movie, based on the erotic novel series by E.L. James.
It revolves around the sexual relationship between the naïve Ana and the rather wild and racy billionaire Christian Grey. Think handcuffs, kink, sex contracts and a list of hard limits.
So maybe it's no surprise Dakota wants mum Melanie Griffith and dad Don Johnson to stay as far away as possible!
Melanie told IndieWire: "I have not seen Fifty Shades of Grey. I don't think I'm going to see it! Dakota was like, 'You guys cannot come. There's no way.' So we're not going.
"I did go visit for a couple of days when they were shooting just normal stuff. I did see the Room of Pain – I did go in there and check it out."
Proud mum Melanie - who is the daughter of Tippi Hedren - gushed: "She's amazing. So good. It's just so beautiful to see her doing this. She's had her mum and her dad and her grandmother and she's just taken us all and thrown us away. She's like, 'Here I am'."
Fifty Shades of Grey is the first movie in a planned trilogy based on E.L. James' books. The sequel is called Fifty Shades Darker and the final chapter Fifty Shades Freed.
Dakota stars alongside Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan, who plays Christian.
British popstar Rita Ora will also appear in the movie as Christian's sister Mia. Fifty Shades will open in cinemas on Valentine's Day next year.
