Audrina Patridge has admitted she felt "burnt out" after The Hills stopped filming.

The brunette was a central figure on the MTV show alongside Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port, Kristin Cavallari and Heidi Montag, living her life's high and low points in front of the MTV cameras between 2006 and 2010.

"I needed a break as I was burnt out and I really needed time to figure out who I was and what I wanted," she told E!'s Fashion Police.

"You have producers telling you who to be friends with, how to act, what to do every day and what to say and you lose who you are."

As for whether she stays in contact with her co-stars, she said: "I think just from being around each other on the show it brought us all together and then once the show ended we all went our separate ways… I still talk to Kristin and to Heidi every now and again."

And last year she said that although she's lost touch with Lauren, she's thrilled that her former friend and roommate is now engaged to lawyer William Tell.

"That's amazing," she told Us Weekly. "I've never met William... as long as he treats her right and she's happy that's all that matters."

Since leaving The Hills, Audrina has gone on to appear in her own reality series, Audrina, and land the hosting role on travel series First Look, which follows her as she travels the US in search of the best clubs, bars, restaurants and hot spots.
