The younger sister of Kim Kardashian has been making waves in the modelling world over the last year, which naturally has caused murmurs about whether her famous siblings might have helped out…
Not true, she says.
In the new issue of Love magazine, the 18-year-old declares: "People think that this success just came to me. But it didn't. What I have has almost worked against me. I had to work even harder to get where I wanted because people didn't take me seriously as a model. Because of the TV show."
Kendall shot to fame as a child on the family's show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, meaning she grew up in front of America.
She told the magazine (via The Cut) that at some castings she went to, the scouts already had their minds made up about her based on the show.
And, showing just how much she wants to ensure people can separate her reality show persona from her modelling character, she says she's quite happy for her famous sisters to NOT come to runway shows.
"Kim was invited to a lot of the shows I was in. She called me before and was like, 'Hey, I was invited to the show, I just wanted to let you know. Do you want me to come?' and I was like, 'No.'"
While Kendall may not always want her siblings sitting by the catwalk, they have always been supportive of her career.
Earlier this year, when Kendall walked the runway for Marc Jacobs at New York Fashion Week in a sheer, boob-baring top, big sister Khloe was among the first to voice her admiration. "My baby sister killed it today walking in the Marc Jacobs fashion show!!! Kenny you are so dope to me!!! Congrats my baby!!! #NYFW #MarcJacobs #ProudSis."
She then added to critics: "She's too dope for you 2 understand! Yall would trade places with her in a second! The hate is real! Lol bye haters! #ModelLife #Simple.
