Northern irish singer Leah was a firm favourite on the second series of the BBC One talent show last year.
Leah, who was mentored by will.i.am on the show, came in at second place after losing out to Danny O'Donoghue's act Andrea Begley.
However, just days after the final, the talented 25-year-old signed a record deal with Universal Music Group - and Black Eyed Peas star will has remained by her side every step of the way.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain today (25 July), Leah said: "Two days after the show finished, I signed with Universal, will flew me out to LA and after the first song we did together, he picked up the phone and went, 'I'm keeping her!'"
Leah has no regrets about not winning the show either. "It's been absolutely incredible and amazing," she continued. "I'm so blessed and honoured to even get to that stage in the show, and Andrea was a really good friend of mine."
Speaking about will, Leah said: "I've respected him so much in the industry when I was younger and stuff. I've been working with him now for about a year and a half, which means I've been laughing my head off for a year and a half! He's literally the funniest man, but he's also really kind and so lovely at giving me advice.
"We co-wrote the whole album together," she continued. "He tweeted at the start, 'I'm calling in the wizards' and he did... We had the top writers in the industry in the studio with us."
Leah, who started singing in church at the age of six, is preparing to release her catchy single 'Home', which features will.i.am, on Sunday 27 July.
"I'm literally so excited," Leah said of the track. "It's a good introduction to the entire album, which is coming out in October time I think."
With a new single out in just two days and a debut album later this year, Leah can't quite believe her luck: "You can't dream this stuff up!"
