Eyebrows were raised after it emerged Jay and Bey were not among the guests who watched Kanye and Kim exchange vows in Florence, Italy on 25 May.
But speaking to GQ America, rapper Kanye insisted their absence didn't affect him, as the only person he cared about on the day was his bride, Kim.
"It doesn't even matter to me whatsoever, who would show up. Because the most important person to show up there, to me, was Kim. And that's all that matters to me. I had to fight for that for seven years."
Kanye, 37, went on to say even if Jay and Bey weren't there, plenty of other illustrious figures were.
"But the fact that these other people showed up that are from such different worlds but have done such dynamic things – they're all, in a way, equal to what Kim has done in TV or what I had done in music."
Although Jay and Beyoncé did not attend the wedding, Beyoncé made sure to send a message of congratulations on the day, posting her well wishes to the newlyweds online.
Kim's mum Kris Jenner has also said the couple weren't upset by Jay and Bey's absence.
"You know what, there was so much commotion and excitement that I never gave [their absence] a second thought," she told Australia's Kyle & Jackie O Show. "I know they sent really nice wishes to Kanye and Kim and I just presumed they were working. I didn't think anything other than that."
Kris added the focus at the wedding was on Kanye and Kim and their baby daughter North West, not on who was or wasn't on the guest list.
"It was just about Kim, Kanye and the baby and this amazing weekend."
