TOWIE's Elliott spoke about Ferne backstage at the recent Duke of Essex Polo event and admitted that calling her a "sewer rat" last week was possibly "a bit strong".
However, his apology has left us a little bit baffled, as we can't work out whether it's actually an apology or not!
Speaking to the official TOWIE website, Elliott recalled the moment he confronted Ferne about how she begged him for sex at Mario Falcone's party earlier this year.
"I wouldn't say it was my finest hour - not by a long shot or in any short means," Elliott said. "But unfortunately, when you have to defend someone who you care dearly about, sometimes you have to say certain things that you probably wouldn't want to say.
"Maybe 'sewer rat' was a bit strong for someone, but like I've said before, my opinion of Ferne is dictated by her behaviour."
Elliott continues: "To cut a long story short, maybe it wasn't the most gentlemany thing to say, but to get a point over to Ferne you have to say some stubborn words, which is what I did.
"She probably hates me right now. I hated her for five weeks for slating Chloe.
"Like Gemma [Collins] said, she's like marmite. I actually do get on really well with Ferne and we have a laugh but we will clash. She's fire and I'm fiery and when the two collide, it's going to be explosive. Unfortunately, Charlie [Sims] is bang smack in the middle of it."
The trouble between the pair first came about in June, after a video emerged of Ferne getting close to a mystery man in Las Vegas. As a result, Ferne and Chloe Sims - sister of her boyfriend Charlie - had a mega row and, as Chloe's boyfriend, Elliott jumped to her defence.
Last week, things reached fever pitch when Ferne and Elliott came to blows - and he told her that a "sewer rat has more class". Ouch!
Will all be forgiven after Elliott's attempt at apologising? Only time will tell!
