Katie Piper is urging fans to sign the organ donor register after teaming up with the NHS.

Katie has joined the likes of Dancing On Ice contestant Beth Tweddle and This Morning's Ruth Langsford to raise awareness during National Transplant Week 2014.

In a new '#SpellItOut campaign picture, the mum-of-one can be seen holding a sign with the words 'I want to be an organ donor' spelt out in colourful fridge magnet-style letters.

Wearing a simple white tee and casual jeans, Katie's hair has gently blow-dryed and is hanging in loose waves around her shoulders.

In 2008, Katie was involved in a horrific acid attack and has since undergone many operations to repair the damage to her eyesight and skin.

Among the surgical procedures she has had done, Katie had a cornea transplant to improve the vision in her badly damaged eye.

Katie explains: "Letting your loved ones know you want to be an organ donor is so important.

"My cornea came from an organ donor and if he had not told his friends and family he wanted to be a donor, they might not have allowed donation to go ahead; meaning my life would be very different today.

"It is devastating for families when someone they love dies so it's not fair to expect them to have to make the decision for you. If you talk openly to your family about your decision to donate your organs it could save them a great deal of stress when you die."
