Katie has urged all women to get a smear test (also known as a cervical screening), as it can help to detect abnormal cell changes in the cervix. Early detection of any abnormality can help to prevent cervical cancer.
Speaking on her FUBAR Radio show this morning (8 July), mum-of-four Katie said: "I presumed because I've had all my kids they check you for everything. I had a reminder through and I ignored it. I thought, 'I don't need that'."
Katie dismissed her reminder letter but soon learnt of its importance after discussing it with friends, who told her that a test was crucial.
Katie, who is expecting her fifth child, revealed: "I haven't had a smear test for... Well, I can't remember the last time... I've never had one."
Now Katie is advising women not to put off screening and to book an appointment as soon as they can.
"Now I need to have a smear test," Katie continued. "You never know, you could be the one. I'm going to get checked now."
