The singer will take to the stage to perform her World Cup anthem 'La La La (Brazil 2014)' in Rio de Janeiro next Sunday (13 July).
Also singing during the closing ceremony will be Carlos Santana, Carlinhos Brown and rapper Wyclef Jean.
Shakira tweeted last night (3 July): "Thank you for your incredible support for Lalala/Dare. I'll be performing at the closing ceremony in Brazil and you guys brought me there!!"
Sharkira's son Milan, stars in the music video for the catchy anthem, which also includes a team of famous footballers such as Barcelona players Cesc Fabregas, Lionel Messi and Shakira's boyfriend Gerard Piqué.
In a statement, Shakira added: "I have an intricate relationship with football for obvious reasons. For me the World Cup carries such a tremendous personal connection as well.
"This will be my third consecutive FIFA World Cup performance, and the 2010 FIFA World Cup changed my life forever -- it's where I began the love story of my life, and now have my son Milan as a result."
Shakira's anthem rivals Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez's official World Cup song, 'We Are One (Ola Ola)', which was performed during the World Cup opening ceremony in June.
