Drake has been forced to pull out of headlining this week's Wireless Festival in Birmingham and London due to illness.

The Canadian rapper was due to perform in Birmingham on Friday (4 July), and in London on Saturday (5 July), but has cancelled his slots after being declared "not physically fit" by doctors.

Drake has pulled out of this year's Wireless Festival.

In a statement released this afternoon, Drake said: "To my beloved fans, it truly breaks my heart that I won't be able to perform as planned at Wireless and Roskilde this weekend.

"I got sick a few days ago and although I am on my way to bouncing back, my doctors have made it clear that I am not physically fit to fly or deliver the performance my fans expect and deserve from me."

He continued: "I will be focused on resting for a quick recovery. I have the best fans in the world and I can't wait to come back to make more incredible memories together."

All three days of the festival will still go ahead but there will be some changes.

Kanye will now headline for two days in a row in London.

Drake's cancellation will see rapper and producer Kanye West take his place to headline on Saturday in London. Kanye will be headlining in London for two nights in a row as he was originally billed to perform on Friday.

For fans in Birmingham, they will be treated to an extended set from the award-winning band, Rudimental, who will now be joined by an array of special guests - names of which are yet to be announced.

As there is no official replacement for Drake's headline slot in Birmingham, ticket holders on 4 July will also receive £20 of 'Wireless Credit' upon arrival at the site. This will be redeemable anywhere on site including food, beverages, merchandise and funfair.
