Ella, who has spent almost two years hard at work in the studio following her X Factor stint in 2012, says her recent success has given her more "confidence".
"It's definitely overwhelming," 18-year-old Ella told Reveal at Capital's Summertime Ball with Vodafone this weekend (21 June). "It just feels incredible to have so much positive energy around me.
"It's insane because I've just come back into everything. After two years going away writing, it's thrown the confidence back in me to know that I made the right decision to step away for a while and to really just get this right."
Ella, who was mentored by Tulisa on the ITV talent show, finished in sixth place. Ella's exit came as a shock to many, but good news was soon around the corner when the show's boss Simon Cowell signed Ella to his record label Syco.
"Tulisa's been so supportive of me and it's incredible," Ella continues. "She sent me a bunch of flowers the other day to say how proud she was of me, which was lovely!"
And how is Simon as a boss?!
"Simon is so good and so supportive of me," adds Ella. "He's been like a rock throughout this and to know that we've come out with a number one, it's amazing. I mean, having your boss proud of you, who could want any more?!"
Ella's debut album Chapter One is scheduled for release on 22 September.
