Catherine Tyldesley is swapping the cobbles for the water as she prepares to take on the Great Swim challenge this weekend.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the Coronation Street actress revealed what life is like on the street without Michelle Keegan's Tina McIntyre and how she plans to swim Lake Windermere this weekend.

Before donning her wetsuit on Saturday, Catherine cut a glamorous figure as she arrived at the ITV studios earlier today.

The pretty 30-year-old teamed a fitted cream, collarless jacket and black tailored trousers, with a pair of oversized sunnies, nude heels and her long blonde locks down past her shoulders.

But although Catherine may have a stylish eye, the star revealed that when it comes to her Corrie character Eva Price, she does enjoying shopping for her skimpy outfits herself!

"I choose the majority [of Eva's clothes]. It's great because she doesn't care and she uses her sexuality to get what she wants, so it's really fun to play a character like that because I would never wear half the things that she does."

Catherine chatted to Ben and Susanna about her upcoming swim this weekend.

With the nation gripped by Tina McIntyre's death and the aftermath that is now unravelling on the street, there is one thing Catherine won't miss after pal Michelle Keegan's exit - her mess!

"Our dressing room is a lot tidier! I'm messy, but she's a whole new level. She's absolutely lovely and I do miss our little chats."

But even though she is close friends with her fellow co-star, Catherine knew very little about what was in store for Michelle's character Tina:

"We were told very little about Tina's death, who it was, how it happened, so I'm sat there with the rest of the UK completely gripped by it. I thought everyone involved in it was absolutely amazing."

The star is the ambassador for this year's Great Swim.

Catherine is this year's ambassador for The Great North Swim 2014 - Europe's biggest open water, mass swimming event. The Great Swim encourages people everywhere to challenge themselves and take to the open water for charity.

Thinking she'd be fine as she used to swim for Salford, the actress soon realised that swimming in open water was a completely "different ball game".

"It's freezing! I think that's the only thing I struggle with, the temperature! But the beauty of it is you can swim for as far as you want, you can do a mile, two miles, five miles..."

And Catherine faces her first challenge this Saturday as she takes on Lake Windermere.

Excited to get in the water and get her adrenaline flowing, the star only wishes she hadn't watched Davina's McCall's swim beforehand.

She's a brave girl, that's for sure!
