Michelle Keegan and ex-fiancé Max George made headlines today following claims of an awkward encounter at a nightclub in Spain.

According to today's papers, Michelle and fiancé Mark Wright were enjoying an evening out in Marbella recently when The Wanted's Max turned up at the same club.

Awkward, right?

It's never fun when you bump into your ex on a night out with your new man but we imagine it's even less fun when it sparks confusing stories like today.

It's been claimed that a PR asked Mark and Michelle if Max could join their VIP table when he arrived at the same club. Sources claim that after politely declining this request, somehow Max believed not only was he denied access to the VIP table, but Michelle was trying to get him to leave the club.

He then allegedly went on a Twitter frenzy voicing his annoyance at the situation, before deleting the tweets and simply posting: "Shouldn't vent things on twitter. Apologies."

Confusing, right?

It gets more confusing...

A pal of Michelle's, however, has said this wasn't the case and Max wasn't banned access to the table, it was just that the table was full and Michelle politely explained she thought it best Max didn't squeeze in.

"[Michelle] explained it probably wasn't for the best if Max joined them, not least because there were a load of her friends around the table," the pal told The Mirror.

"It was a polite conversation which must have got lost in translation. She certainly didn't prevent him coming into the club as his tweets would suggest and she didn't see him inside."

Then, in another twist, did Max even actually want to sit at their table or did that come from a PR and not Max? A source close to Max added to The Sun: "He has been in that club every night and had his own table, so why would he want to join theirs?"

Fair enough point.

And Max and Michelle split way back in 2011, so it's in the past. They've both moved on to new relationships since then. Plus Max has spoken publicly of how happy he is for Michelle on her engagement to Mark, saying last year:

"I'm actually really happy for her. She's a wonderful girl. I've met Mark and he seems like a really nice bloke so I wish them all the luck in the world."

Michelle hasn't said anything, but perhaps that's because she's been rather occupied with the fact her character Tina McIntyre was pushed off a building on last night's episode of Coronation Street, paving the way for her exit from the ITV show...
