EastEnders actor Khali Best suspended for three months

EastEnders star Khali Best has been suspended from the soap for three months.

A BBC spokesperson announced on Tuesday afternoon (27 May) that Khali, who plays mechanic Dexter Hartman, had been suspended but declined to comment any further.

A rep said: "Khali Best has been suspended from EastEnders for three months. We will not comment any further on this matter."

Khali first appeared in EastEnders in January 2013, playing the grandson of Cora Cross and son of Ava Hartman.

Earlier this year, Khali picked up a gong for 'Best Newcomer' at the National Television Awards.

Viewers have seen various storylines with Dexter, including his friendships with Jay Brown and Lola Pearce, as well as his relationship with his estranged father, Sam, who tracked him down to ask him to donate a kidney.

EastEnders airs tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
