Kim Kardashian and Kanye West will treat their wedding guests to a private tour of the Palace of Versailles on the eve of their wedding – but they will not marry at the historic estate.

A spokesperson for Versailles has confirmed that Kim and Kanye have booked a private tour of the palace on Friday, 23 May, one day before their rumoured 24 May nuptials.

In a statement released to MailOnline, the palace's president Catherine Pegard said: "Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have decided to visit the Chateau of Versailles with their guests in a private surprise tour organised for Friday, May 23rd, on the eve of their marriage.

"In making this choice, they will contribute once more to a better understanding of Versailles, and will help to maintain the exceptional heritage of Versailles, which is classed as a world heritage site by Unesco."

There had long been rumours that Kim, 33, and Kanye, 36, had their hearts set on marrying at Versailles, after they were seen touring the palace earlier in the year.

However, according to Ms Pegard, even if they had wanted to marry at Versailles it would not be possible.

Versailles previously denied rumours that Kim and Kanye wanted to wed at the palace, tweeting back in January: "On 19 January, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West visited the Palace of Versailles but they are not planning their wedding at the Palace."

It had long been believed that Kim and Kanye would marry in Paris. Kim herself confirmed France as the wedding destination earlier in the year, they've been seen visiting the country on several occasions since their engagement, and they own an apartment there.

However, over the last week it emerged that the couple may actually have chosen Florence, Italy as the destination for their wedding.

Kanye gave an interview to a local Florence newspaper last week gushing about how much he loved the beautiful city, where he's been staying in the run-up to his wedding working on new music and shadowing a fashion designer.

He even hinted that the couple's baby daughter North, born June 2013, was conceived in Florence.

A spokesperson for the Florence mayor's office appeared to confirm the Florence wedding by revealing over the weekend that Kim and Kanye had booked the imposing 16th century Belvedere Fort for next weekend.

Kim and Kanye have not comment.

The superstar couple reunited in Paris at the weekend, where they were seen last night enjoying a quiet stroll (surrounded by photographers) and an ice cream, while Kim was seen at a French gym this morning.

Fresh rumours suggest Paris will be the location of a pre-wedding dinner for friends and family before their nearest and dearest are flown to Florence to watch Kim and Kanye exchange vows.
